Nigel Evans Slams Decision To Relocate National Football Museum To Manchester

The great history of Preston North End and the wealth of football teams and support in the area seem to have counted for nothing

Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley, has today lamented the decision to relocate the National Football Museum from its present site in Preston to Manchester.

Mr Evans said:

“I have said all along that the Museum should remain exactly where it is. My understanding was that Lancashire County Council and Preston City Council, with UCLan, launched an excellent bid to keep the National Football Museum in Preston – including immediate funding to keep it open and capital investment to keep it in the city long term.

“It is hugely disappointing that this bid has been rejected. Even if the Museum remains as a secondary site Preston will be without a fantastic attraction. The great history of Preston North End and the wealth of football teams and support in the area seem to have counted for nothing. It is a huge shame.”
