Lancashire Conservatives elect new Group Leader.
The Conservative Group at Lancashire County Council has appointed County Councillor Aidy Riggott as its new leader following the Group's AGM at County Hall this morning. At the same meeting, County Councillor Peter Buckley was appointed Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group.
County Councillor Riggott stated: "The recent local election results were very disappointing for our Party, and unfortunately, several friends and colleagues, including former Leader Phillippa Williamson, were not re-elected. I am grateful for the unanimous support from the group in electing me as their leader and am delighted that Peter Buckley will serve as my deputy.
As a team, we are committed to holding the new ruling Reform Group accountable for their promises to the people of Lancashire, such as improving our highways, reducing debt, and freezing council tax. We will also seek clarification on their plans and timeline for the promised referendum on the future of Lancashire's Councils."
