Conservative Policy Forum - Shaping Tomorrow

#RVCPF

Welcome to the hub of the Ribble Valley CPF which is an integral part of the Ribble Valley Conservative Association.

The Conservative Policy Forum, or CPF as it is often referred to, is all about gathering and sharing ideas to ensure we are making plans with the most up to date information and best ideas.

The RVCPF take the lead on gathering ideas and policy feedback to ensure that your association and the national Conservative Party stay both up to date and brimming with fresh ideas.

RVCPF Objectives

  • Gather information from residents and businesses of the Ribble Valley for inclusion in policy.

  • Help association members stay up to date with the latest policy information from CCHQ.

  • Represent the Ribble Valley to the policy makers at CCHQ and the national policy unit.

  • Put forward Ribble Valley ideas, values and priorities to ensure our needs and goals are factored into the UK plan.

  • Encourage more people to share their ideas and input, ensuring we represent all parts of Ribble Valley constituency.

Many hands share many voices

Contributing to CPF is the responsibility of each association official, we’re elected after all to represent you our membership.

There’s a lot to do so we break it down and share the work. To ensure we don’t miss anything, and to give idea gathering and policy making the focus they need, we elect a CPF Chairman to focus on CPF in the Ribble Valley and act as a hub for it in our association.

Jacqueline Hampson is our current CPF Chairman after being appointed in June 2021.

Your CPF Chairman

At an association level the CPF Chairman functions as a hub for the CPF. The role ensures CCHQ policy papers and ideas reach the association team and in return that local priorities and policy ideas from the Ribble Valley are fed into national policymaking.

A common mistake some make is to think the CPF Chairman determines what the policy positions are for the association. This couldn’t be further from the truth, which is that great policy stems from many voices rather than one mind.

Therefore, the role of CPF Chairman is all about ensuring everyone’s ideas and priorities reach us at the association and feeding them into the wider Conservative team.

One of the ways we do this is for the CPF Chairman to liaise with other CPF teams across Lancashire, the North-west and wider UK. By sharing information and feedback from our areas we can see trends emerging across the UK and work together to find solutions and share best practice.

Local ideas transform national policy

The input of Ribble Valley residents and businesses is vital to the success of our CPF work. At the moment, each association officer, councillor and ward representative currently gather ideas and information from their respective areas.

In the future we’re also going to be adding some fun events into how we gather ideas for the Ribble Valley and the UK.

#TellRV

We’re going to be running some events where we have fun contributing ideas and shaping policies that would improve life in the Ribble Valley and wider UK. Keep an eye out for more details in your email or via the news section of this website.

This is your opportunity to get involved and tell us what you want and need. We hope you join us because we’d love to know what you’re thinking.

#TellNo10

This is a nationwide initiative led by the national Conservative Policy Forum team. Whilst the focus is primarily on gathering ideas from the Conservative party membership, the TellNo10 sessions are open to participants from all political persuasions.

The policy ideas are then shared with Munira Mirza and her policy team at Number 10. This is a really easy way to get involved with the policy making at the heart of the UK government. It’s also a fun way to meet interesting people and share experiences of life across the UK.

During Covid these sessions have been run as zoom workshops with participants splitting into smaller groups to generate policy ideas before reuniting and sharing what each have come up with.

Our CPF Chairman, Jacqueline Hampson. has been working with the national team to facilitate some of these sessions and found it to be a rewarding and exhilarating experience.

Jacqueline observed “I started out attending the TellNo10 sessions as a participant and loved the energy in the groups, as everyone swapped ideas and then worked together to turn visions into actionable plans. One of the lovely things about TellNo10 sessions is that you meet people from across the UK. I’ve been fascinated by the diverse range of people participating and the broad range of experiences they each bring to our conversations. Together you find ways forward that would take you a lot longer if you were working on your own. I’m excited to bring more of these opportunities to our Ribble Valley constituents.”

It’s easy for you to get involved

You can send an email to the CPF Chairman or join us at one of our events, whichever works best for you.

We hope to hear from you soon and look forward to hearing your thoughts about how we can achieve even greater success for the Ribble Valley and wider UK.
